CoralWatch is a non-profit organization, built on a research project at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. CoralWatch integrates global monitoring of coral bleaching with education about coral reef conservation. Its aim is to provide hands-on monitoring and education tools to increase awareness of reef threats and encourage behavior change towards a sustainable, low-carbon future. In 2002, CoralWatch developed and validated the Coral Health Chart. The chart standardizes changes in coral color, providing a simple way to quantify bleaching and monitor coral health. The Coral Health Chart is used by dive centers, scientists, school groups, and tourists. Anyone can contribute to the global database! You don’t need extensive training – justjoin CoralWatch and get involved.
